Electro-mechanical wearable injector enabling a wide range of drug delivery therapies

There is a trend in the pharma industry to shift from IV drug delivery in acute settings to subcutaneous drug delivery at the home enabling more cost efficient and patient friendly care. Devices used for self-administration at the home need to be highly reliable, user friendly and customizable for the different drug therapies. Customization may include adjustable basal rates, number of doses or even more complex delivery profiles over days.

In addition, some drugs need to be prepared before being uploaded to the injection device, either because they are in a lyophilized format or because the dose needs to be adapted to the patient.

In order to address these challenges, we developed a novel electromechanical wearable injector, which is:

Customizable to support different treatment regimens (pulsatile, continuous, episodic, or single-bolus delivery)

Fully programmable for delayed or timed administration

Equipped with smart capabilities to support remote and secure communication via Bluetooth and includes options for a wearable wireless monitor or App integration

Is filled/loaded manually to support adjustments to existing formulations and variations in treatment regimens
