Issue

When dealing with Armoured Cables (AC90) as an installer, the most common issues is the correct cable cross-section or end application identification.

When selecting a cable to install or to stock, it is crucial that the proper cross-section is used to be installed in the correct duct or the right pallet for shipping or storage. This task is at stake by the following constraints:

While stocking:

Easily identifying the sections in your stock to know what you have in your inventory and to select the right ones when leaving for a construction site.

While installing:

You rely only on packaging information to know what sections you are installing
The possibility of installing the wrong section
Due to armouring, it is not possible to write on the cable (gauge size)

All these problems are multiplied for installers and stockists when having to deal with a wide selection of sections of similar cables.

Solution

We developed a solution, which is a colour code system on the aluminium armor using a different colour paint for different gauge Or application, making visual identification easy.

This colour-coding solution consists of a line of colour painted directly on the armoured cable that is easily identifiable and that allows you to know gauge size/cross-section of the cable: One colour = One cross-section Or One application

This solution makes it possible to:

Save Time: Faster installation, as it is easy for the electricians to identify and select the required product
Easy to stock: stocking is easier thanks to the different identification colours
Safer: no mistake possible during the installation/stocking/shipping.

Examples:

Blue colour on Ac90 cable to represent 10 AWG cable and Yellow to represent 8 gauge

OR

It can be used to define specific application, for instance one color (ex: Green) to signify cables used in hospitals.
