In the current context, control of operating costs is essential. Regrooving tyres increases the lifespan of a tyre by 25%, reduces fuel consumption (up to 2L / 100 km per vehicle), thus encouraging savings in raw materials and CO2 emissions. However, regrooving is currently scarcely used in practice.
The regrooving of heavy-duty tyres is currently carried out manually.
This practice poses several problems:
- the ability to organise the business in the workshop or outside at the right time
- user-friendliness:
- physical difficulties
- difficult task affecting the attractiveness of the profession
- the quality of the act of regrooving (compliance with multi-brand diagrams, difference in rubber compound per model)
Carrying out the regrooving automatically rather than manually would be beneficial, but there is no solution on the market currently.
